What is the role of the Steering Committee?

The steering committee was selected by the Village based on their past involvement and/or interest in Village planning processes. They represent a wide variety of community interests. Their role is to provide guidance and oversight during the Comprehensive Plan process, as well as review documents and ensure that community issues and opportunities are being addressed by the consultant team.

How does the Comprehensive Plan relate to other Village plans?

The Comprehensive Plan sets the high-level policy framework for land use, transportation, parks and open space and development related decisions. It sets the overall policy direction for the Village. Other Village plans, such as the South Milwaukee Corridor Plan, Touhy Triangle Master Plan and Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan, provide more specific and prescriptive guidance for design, development and implementation. All of these plans must be consistent with each other as well as consistent with the Comprehensive Plan.
